BMW X6 Competitor Insight

Cross-shopping on whatcar.com

Prospective BMW X6 buyers are more likely to be lured towards another BMW-badged model than to another brand, with the smaller X3, X4 and X5 SUVs all represented here. However, Audi matches BMW in having three of its models represented within our top 10, and of those it’s the Q5 large SUV which puts in the strongest challenge to the X6. Interestingly, this doesn’t flow the other way – the X6 does not feature among the top 10 rivals for the Q5, although the smaller X3 does.

It’s also interesting that less than half of our contenders come from within the coupé-SUV class, with the majority coming instead from the regular large or luxury SUV markets.

The luxurious BMW X7 is conspicuous by its absence here, suggesting that most X6 buyers won’t be lured by the more expensive BMW. This is understandable – despite being the next rung up the BMW ladder after the X6, the latter is almost £16,000 more expensive.
