Top 20 most searched-for new car reviews by brand on whatcar.com

There’s a significant disconnect between several of the brands heading this table and their market shares, which are down considerably from their usual running rates. The reason is a shortage of cars complying with the new WLTP emission regulations and the need for dealers to clear stocks of pre-registered, non-WLTP models.

So while Audi was the most searched- for brand during September, its market share of 4.1% placed it 10th in the sales league rather than in the top four. Volkswagen, Seat and Skoda have suffered similarly, with the Volkswagen Group struggling to certify all of its myriad derivatives. BMW, by contrast, was the month’s third most searched-for and fourth best-selling brand.
