Most popular brands – September 2018

Top 20 most searched-for new car reviews by brand on whatcar.com
There’s a notable disconnect between several of the brands heading this table and their market shares, which are far lower than usual. The reason is a shortage of cars meeting the new WLTP emission tests and the need for dealers to clear stocks of pre-registered, non-WLTP-compliant models.
So while Audi was the most searched-for brand during September, its 4.1% market share placed it 10th in the sales league rather than in the top four.
BMW, by contrast, was the month’s third most searched-for marque and fourth best-selling brand, with an 8.3% market share. Ford also placed well in searches while regaining its best-selling brand title.
