The importance of electrification can be seen in the fact that all bar one of this month’s top first drives are powered at least partly by electricity, whether they be mild, full or plug-in hybrids, or even fully electric cars. The top spot, however, is taken by the first standalone model from Seat’s performance offshoot brand, Cupra, showing that cars which place performance and driving engagement at their core can still garner plenty of interest. Meanwhile, news that the Fiat 500 was going electric drew lots of attention when it was revealed earlier this year, and our first outing in a late-stage prototype revealed a car with lots of promise.
