New Car Buying Marketplace Insights – May

New Car Buying: cars generating the most leads from buyers at whatcar.com

Three Skodas made it into this month’s top 20, and for the first time, it’s the Karoq family SUV at the very top. It climbed six places from last month, no doubt helped by Target Price savings of up to £2313.

Elsewhere, the Ford Puma small SUV fell four places to end up eighth, while BMW’s 3 Series experienced a meteoric rise, coming from outside the top 20 to reach sixth place. Again, the latest Target Price discounts netting buyers our favourite 330e M Sport model with a saving of £5244 undoubtedly contributed to that success.

New Car Buying: brands generating the most leads from buyers at whatcar.com

This is a momentous occasion, because, for the first time in recent memory, Skoda has surpassed its Volkswagen stablemate to become the brand contributing the most leads to dealers via our New Car Buying service.

This can be partly attributed to Skoda’s efforts to sustain business during the coronavirus pandemic – dealers have been offering video walkarounds of cars from their own driveways, for example – but also to substantial Target Price discounts, with buyers able to save more than £2000 on average across the brand’s model range.
