BMW 3 Series (A popular new car) driving down an open road.

Top 10 most popular new car first drives on whatcar.com

An impressively disparate array of first drive reviews appealed to What Car? readers last month. It should be no surprise that the latest BMW 3 Series tops this table, despite waning interest in saloons, but a sign of the shifting market can be seen in the electric Tesla Model 3’s number two position.

The Kia e-Niro family SUV, with an official range of more than 300 miles in range-topping 64kWh battery form, is the only other electric-powered model here. A complete contrast is Suzuki’s Jimny in third place, with the renewal of this long-running basic 4×4 sparking plenty of interest. Other new SUVs include the Audi Q3, BMW X5, Honda CR-V and, just outside this table in 11th, the Lamborghini Urus.

Further evidence that interest in executive saloons hasn’t dried up completely is the appearance of the new Peugeot 508 in seventh spot.
