News: Customers want to buy british, What Car? poll reveals

While potential buyers are more willing to shop around this month, our latest data suggests that more also want a British badge on their driveway

Motivation to buy British has swelled in recent months, according to the latest data from our poll of 6425 visitors to our website.

Some 26% of respondents admitted this week they are now more likely to consider UK-built or British brands than they were prior to the coronavirus outbreak.

That’s great news for the likes of Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mini, Nissan, Toyota, Vauxhall and more.

It will also be interesting to see whether fleet and business purchasers – who are notably holding off from buying at present – are in any way swayed, although these hard-nosed decisions are likely to be more influenced by potential tax increases on imported cars arising from Brexit than patriotism.
