What Car?’s sister title Autocar digitises entire archive dating back to 1895
What Car?’s sister title, Autocar, will have its entire printed archive digitised after agreeing an exclusive partnership deal with Archive Digital Limited.
Autocar has been in print since 1895 and is the longest continuously running automotive title in the world. The digitisation process will take approximately six months and will be done in a non-destructive way to preserve the originals. The digital archive will be made available in a fully-searchable PDF format – helping users easily find reviews and content they are interested in.
The first issue of ‘The Autocar’, as it was named in 1895, came out at a time when there were reported to be fewer than 10 privately owned cars on UK roads. Since then, more than 6500 issues and 700,000 pages have been published, and the full collection will soon become available to read online.
Full details of the offer will be announced later, but anyone interested in finding out more can register their interest at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
